QUOTE
OF THE MONTH
This
society had better learn, and damn quickly, the difference between men
and monsters or there wont be any men left outside of American's prisons
to seek out and subdue the monsters. Now I ask you, what kind of
future is that?

SCRIPTURE
OF THE MONTH
Psalm
91:11-12 (New International Version)
“
For he will command his angels concerning you
to
guard you in all your ways;
they
will lift you up in their hands,
so
that you will not strike your foot against a stone.”
A
Note From Mary Sue….
November
is a difficult time for a large number of our Texas Voices members and
supporters. The holiday season is upon us and while some are
joyously diving into the season, others are drenched in
hopelessness, and/or a sense of loss. Many of our loved ones
are incarcerated or excluded from family gatherings due to unnecessary
probation and parole conditions. We remember previous
holiday seasons when life seemed much more sane. It was easier
back then. We knew nothing about the “sex offender” industry.
As far as we were concerned, everyone listed on the registry was a
dangerous predator, capable of horrendous acts of violence. We
trusted our government, trusted our legislators, and believed that
everything was as it should be. And then the blanket which we had
wrapped around ourselves for so long fell to the floor. The
shocking reality of current laws left us stunned and searching for
answers. I envy those who still have their blanket wrapped tightly
around them.
We
have not worked and struggled in vain. It has been for and toward
something. Change is coming.
November
is also an appropriate time for counting our blessing. Despite
the hardships, blessings are abundant if we choose to notice them.
For
those who are mourning the absence of a loved one this holiday season,
please know that you are not alone. For those who have managed to
get on with their lives, please pray for those who continue to struggle
with the “sex offender” label.
